Jessica Simpson has revealed she knew her marriage to ex-husband Nick Lachey was over when she chose to spend their third wedding anniversary on a charity trip to Africa and he chose to stay at home.
Jessica, who is a spokesperson for Operation Smile which helps children with facial deformities, said recently: “I went there on our three-year wedding anniversary. He stayed home. On that day, everything became so clear. I was in hospitals with all these sick kids, and I was looking at the beauty of this whole different world. I just knew I needed to find something more in my life - on my own.”
When Jessica returned home, she discussed the situation with Nick: “we realised that everything is not what we expected it to be, as hurtful as that may be.”
Jessica Simpson: 'I Am My Own Publicist Now'

Pop star Jessica Simpson has taken over her own public relations duties after the media fallout surrounding her relationship with singer John Mayer. Simpson's father Joe fired her former publicist Rob Shuter last month (Sep06), after she appeared on the cover of American publication People proclaiming she was in love with Mayer.
Simpson decided to step in and handle her own publicity and personally called all of the tabloid magazine editors to repair her damaged relationship with the press.
She tells Jane magazine: "It's been very emotional. But I am my own publicist right now. I've called all the heads of thetabloids.I don't want anyone else to speak for me now. It felt good to call them, but it was hard to find forgiveness. But that's one of my best qualities, I'm very forgiving."
Simpson says she knows exactly who leaks information to the media when she reads the tabloid reports adding, "I know who they are, and none are my friends. Trust me, if inside sources were my friends, the magazines would have a lot juicier info!"

Singer/actress Jessica Simpson was mortified when she screen-tested for a two parts in the big screen re-make of the classic TV show Dallas and didn't get either one of them. Media reports claimed the star was in line to land the role of sexy Lucy Ewing, but the Dukes Of Hazzard star failed to impress film-makers with her acting skills.
Simpson claims singing comes naturally to her, but acting is another story saying: "I never thought I would see myself on the big screen. That, to me, was something so unreachable."
She says she auditioned for the part but "couldn't really pull it off… They wanted me to come back for Pam (Ewing). They saw me as something more mature, and as a woman.
"I really thought I nailed it and had a chemistry read with Luke Wilson, who was playing Bobby. All of a sudden I get a call: not Pam. Everyone was saying I was going to be in Dallas, and I didn't get the part. I did not get it. How embarrassing is that?"

Hollywood star Jessica Simpson has rubbished reports she enjoyed a romance with her co-star Dane Cook on the set of new movie Employee Of The Month. The actress, who divorced her ex-husband Nick Lachey in June (06), had great chemistry with Cook, but the pair were never more than good friends. Simpson tells US chat show host Jimmy Kimmel, "We had great chemistry, onscreen chemistry and offscreen chemistry. But nothing sexually."

Pop star Jessica Simpson struck up a friendship with her best pal Ken Paves when he rescued her from a serious hair trauma. Simpson was devastated when a bleaching job went horribly wrong and her record label sent her to hairstylist Paves to rescue her crowning glory.
She says, "My hair was, like, to my waist. I was a Texas girl. "It was, like, long hair that was only processed with Aqua Net and highlights. And somebody bleached it, and then they had to cut it because everything broke off. "All of a sudden, my record label completely freaked out and called. They were like, 'Who does extensions? This guy named Ken. He does J.Lo. You're going to him tonight.'"

Jessica Simpson has admitted that she has a problem with getting to sleep, so she's been advised to stay away from her bed until she feels really sleepy, Ananova reports.
"It's more of a mental thing. I tell myself, 'I cannot fall asleep, there's no way if I get into bed right now I'm gonna fall asleep.' I end up just laying on the floor and falling asleep... That's advice that I've gotten - don't ever get into bed until you know that it's time to go to sleep, or else you'll lay there and that's when you start tossing and turning." Jessica Simpson is quoted as saying.
Jessica Simpson admits that her insomnia problems might be caused by her strategy to plan her dreams: "I start thinking about what I wanna dream about... It's called lucid dreaming... If you tell yourself what you're gonna dream about then you can have a really great dream."

The New York Post reports that during a recent shoot for a Direct TV commercial, Jessica Simpson kept everyone waiting for over an hour - due to a stomach bug. Hairdresser and friend Ken Paves was overheard telling people: "Well, what do you want her to do? Sh** her pants?" A rep for the singer denied any physical ailment and said, "there was a minor delay but simply because her voice has not yet healed."
