After more than a year of break-up rumors, "Newlyweds" Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have officially decided to call it quits, ET has confirmed.
"After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," the couple said in a statement Wednesday. "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

Jessica Simpson was overheard telling her mother Tina during a recent New York awards show (the Accessories Council ACE awards at Cipriani 42nd Street) that her younger sister is stupid.
"Mum, Ashlee is so stupid. She left the popcorn in the microwave and almost burned the house down", Jessica said.
The 'Dukes Of Hazzard' star has also expressed herconcern about Ashlee’s party lifestyle, especially now, that she is 21. Apparently, the “Pieces of Me” singer was video taped swearing at a McDonald’s employee while she was drunk, in Canada. Last month, Ashlee was spotted making out with two young men on the same night, while celebrating the launch of her new album 'I Am Me' at exclusive New York bar the PM Lounge.
Jessica Simpson is worried that her sister is going out too much and suggests her to slow down for the sake of her career.

Every weekly tabloid along with each nightly tabloid TV show and every Internet gossip site has an opinion on the Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's marriage. While stars are use to that - to a point - it's still a ton of pressure.
Now that pressure and the white hot spotlight on the rumors of Nick's alleged infidelity, and the alleged separation of the couple is reportedly taking a heavy toll on the blonde beauty and is said to be the reason Jessica is now in therapy.
According to MTV.com, Jessica told the magazine Teen People that she had to visit a therapist to help her cope with relentless paparazzi and tabloid rumors that her marriage was in trouble.
She said, "Nick and I have been so public about our marriage that it made people obsessed. We set ourselves up to be gawked at,"

The famous Simpson sisters are still surprised when people ask them if they get along well, due to the fact that they are both singers.
Ashlee and Jessica declared they would never let fame drive any competitive wedge between them, according to Contactmusic.
The sisters have different tastes in music and respect each other’s preferences.
The 21-year-old Ashlee would like her music to have more of a rock edge than her pop star older sister Jessica.
"People always ask if there is competition but we are very different people and we just adore each other.
Both of us like each other's music. Jessica told me the other day that she listens to my CD every night before she goes on stage. That was cool.", the “Pieces of Me” singer confessed.
"Ashlee, my mom and I are all best friends.", added the 25-year-old Jessica
The Simpson sisters got into trouble in their youth - for wearing skimpy bikinis to church. The singers, whose father was a pastor, used to go to church in swimsuits and tiny shorts.
