Jessica Simpson's New Single Is Released

Her romance with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo may have overshadowed her singing career of late, but Jessica Simpson is back with a new single, the first off her upcoming country album.
The lighthearted, upbeat "Come On Over," airing on Jacksonville, Fla. radio station WQIK, features her breathy vocals over a steel guitar. (Visit wqik.com to hear the song.)
On the tune, she sings: "I need you now/ I need you bad/I need you baby looking just like that/Don't pack a bag/Don't make me wait/ I want to kiss that smile that's on your face/I need you wrapped up in these arms/ I want you just the way you are/Come on over."
Early feedback has been positive: in a poll on WQIK's Web site, of the more than 6,600 people who listened to the track, 58 percent gave it a thumbs up.
Simpson's record label says that she will be performing at fairs and festivals this summer in support of her country album, due out in September. Simpson's father told PEOPLE last year that the album will go back to her Texas roots. "She's a singer from top to bottom," Joe Simpson said. "And everything in the music business, especially pop music, has moved away from singers. And I think country is the only pure, storytelling kind of genre left."

Jessica Simpson adds another accessory to her always-stylish look – a cowboy hat.
The singer is "talking about doing a country record and going back to her roots, being from Texas," Jessica's father and manager, Joe Simpson, told PEOPLE at Hard Rock Hotel's Rolling Stone party in Las Vegas.
"Everything in our business is about beats and I think she really wants to sing," he said, "and country music still believes in that."
Simpson, 27, recently finished filming Major Movie Star and is turning her thoughts back to her music. Her last album, 2006's "Public Affair," hit the Top 20, but quickly fell off the charts.
"She's a singer from top to bottom," Joe Simpson said. "And everything in the music business, especially pop music, has moved away from singers. And I think country is the the only pure, storytelling kind of genre left."
On whether she will be accepted among country fans, he said, "She's from Texas. How could she not?"

Jessica Simpson hopped off her flight from Mexico and jumped right back to work.
The pop star, who returned to Los Angeles yesterday after spending a few days unwinding (from what, we wonder) with her family south of the border, apparently isn't in the mood for more R&R.
She was on the move today, making a quick stop at a Marriott hotel in Sherman Oaks and then holing up in a West Hollywood recording studio.
A source close to the songstress told E! News that Simpson planned to spend six to eight hours at the studio working on material for a "country crossover" album.

May 20 - Jessica Simpson spends the day tanning at the pool in Cabo San Lucas with her mom Tina. Jessica seemed to be in good spirits and laughed as her mom did push ups on her chair. After a long day in the sun, Jessica put on a robe and lifted up her bikini to check out her tan lines (+19) (hq). Thanks to Martin for adds.

The family were just at daughter Ashlee's wedding to rocker Pete Wentz the day before and Romo was at the ceremony in spite of break-up rumors swirling around the couple. What's going on with Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo? While rumors of a split continue to swirl, the two attended Ashlee Simpson's private weekend nuptials – looking anything but broken up.
Simpson and her NFL-star beau were spotted together Friday on a sushi run in L.A., and later he was by her side again during Ashlee's rehearsal dinner, held at Jessica's Beverly Hills home.
"They were very cozy and cute together," said a source close to the couple, slamming Internet reports that Simpson was devastated to learn that her ex, John Mayer, has taken up with Jennifer Aniston. "She's definitely not mourning John Mayer! She was in an amazing mood and so happy her sister was getting married."
As for Saturday's wedding and Alice In Wonderland-themed reception, Romo continued to shower the elder Simpson, 27, with attention, said the source.
"They were kissing and holding hands throughout the night," added the insider. "He was very sweet to her. They were very much a couple."
For the record, Jessica's rep, Cindi Berger, has called the breakup talk "not true."

Despite reports to the contrary, Jessica Simpson and quarterback Tony Romo are still together.
A rep for the singer told Access Hollywood, there is “no truth” to the rumors in Star magazine that the couple had gone their separate ways.
On Monday, the magazine reported Romo spent a wild weekend with his college buddies and the fun may have led to a split between the couple.
A pal of Tony’s told the magazine “they’re broken up.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Simpson and Romo began dating last year and Simpson even took the Dallas Cowboys star home for Thanksgiving.

While her little sister's wedding plans remain shrouded in secrecy, Jessica Simpson revealed one detail: She's the maid of honor!
"Of course," the 27-year-old told PEOPLE when asked if she'll be standing next to Ashlee on her big day.
Performing in front of nearly 35,000 people at Camp Pendleton Thursday night, Jessica was in fine form for the troops, belting out "These Boots Are Made For Walkin' " at a three-hour concert that also featured Snoop Dogg, Janet Jackson, Ne-Yo, and Pamela Anderson. Taking the stage in a skin-tight red top, jeans and black stiletto heels, Jessica was greeted by howls and hoorahs.
Little sister Ashlee, 23, and fiancé Pete Wentz (of Fall Out Boy fame) have kept mum on their wedding plans – and her pregnancy.
But she can't help gushing about her engagement.
While promoting her new album, Bittersweet World, in London, Ashlee proudly showed off her ring on a British chat show saying, "He did a great job." As for her husband-to-be? "I got a good one."

Curvy JESSICA SIMPSON wants to get back into DUKES OF HAZZARD bikini shape again - and so she's using film stills and photos to encourage her.
The pop star insists it was "gutsy" of her to play sexy Daisy Duke in the 2005 film - because so much of her body was on show for all to see.
But she has since realised her buff body gave weight watchers something to aim for, and so now she uses her Duke look for inspiration.
She explains, "So many girls take a picture of me in that bikini and say to their trainers, 'I want to look like that.' I'm doing that to my trainer now. I say, 'I want to look like that.'"
